Product Design

Well the product design people came over i did miss the burton presentation, wasnt told what time it started though, thanks! But looked at it afterwards and it looks like a bum bag... The presentation was the same as my idea of bright colours and a bit funky with this in mind my character may and may not fit as i feel an unrealistic character can add more funk and flair to the pice by doing unrealistic snowboard oves etc. so i created Burton boy! images below show him at his best! And showing his body part which will be used the most... his bottom!

Back to the idea

I had the thought of different parts of a shot to come on to the screen from different places i have tested it and the out come is below i also thought it would be nice if the pieces were paper and they were all coming together to make up the shot. Now with this it will be ok when the object isnt moving but with the character it may be a bit harder. And i dont think it looks as good as i thought.

Decision

The past couple of days i have been thinking if i shud scrap the burton idea and go for a 30second animation with my own character. After careful thinking i have decided to stick with Burton.

My idea will stick the same, im still waiting to see the product design students to see the product i should be advertising. I had been thinking of a character and thought of it to be realistic this will take a long time to model, after talking to Yaniv he told me that a stickman would be ok and fairly easy to animate, so with that i have made a sort of burton stickman! Needs tweaking but there he is.

No business like Snow business

Well this morning has been very productive, been looking at a lot of tutorials just sinking them in not even doing them, mainly cos i dont have the software at home. I have however followed a tutorial on the internet and created some nice snow i feel, for my first time of trying!

Early days but just some ideas

Carrying on with the theme of colours this is just an idea of a snowboard following a line, it may just end up being something in the background, but still waiting to meet the product design students.

Intro?

Got inspiration from a song called freeze, i think it goes well with the snowboarding feel, bit funky and out there. I also like the color theme of green, yellow and purple. This is just one idea, can easily play around and mix it up a bit more.

Talk

Well that didnt go according to plan Jared said i could do better than my initial plan, in that small time i have thought of another, which uses more 3d and a feel that is more suited to snowboarding i feel. The only thing is i think i have seen it somewhere before, not sure though.

Well as i wanted some live action in this i have tried emailing burton asking if they had any footage or could tell me off any other companys but the reply i got was this...

Brief

Before looking at the brief i wanted to do anther game environment, i spoke to Jared about this and said if i wanted to do something like that it would have to be a trailer for a game. I decided 6weeks wasnt long enuf to create a game trailer, so i found a brief in the room and had a look.

It all looked like animation to me, but oh well, i felt the product design was the most intresting Burton was the company that stuck out the most. i have enjoyed snowboarding in the past so had some understanding of it and thought they would be the best canditate.

So, in my understading i need to create 30seconds of footage showing off the lifestyle/culture of snowboarding. I have a few ideas going round and testing some stuff out already.

I would like the advert to be slick and something you would see either on their website or on the tv. I want it to showcase some of their new clothing, but also entice (sp?) new people to try snowboarding, mixing live action with cg. If this is allowed need to talk to Jared about this idea.
